My climate writing goal for 2025
In my last post, I mentioned that I wanted to write about climate change—something I’ve been meaning to do for over a year.
Why climate change?
For starters, I think it’s the defining issue of our time. Reasonable people can disagree, but I’ll make my case in a future post.
Another reason I want to write about climate is because I’m disappointed by the vast majority of climate argumentation that I come across. I think I can do better.
Lastly, I think I can offer something useful to at least a few of the friends and family who read this blog. Most people believe in human-driven climate change and want to be part of the solution; they just don’t know how, or worse, they feel powerless. We’re not powerless, and there are concrete things we all can do—in addition to much-needed systemic change—to help steer the world toward better climate outcomes. I think the best chance we have at normalizing voluntary, climate-friendly choices is through the influence of friends and family rather than the authority of distant experts.
So that’s my “why.” I hope to expand upon it in a future post, sharing my thoughts and feelings about the challenge before us. But I want to spend most of my time exploring climate solutions through a personal and practical lens. If this effort inspires even a single real-world conversation or a-ha moment along the way, it’ll be worth it.
